New glass show opens at Mark Bettis Gallery

Cincinnati-born, Columbus-based artist Molly Jo Burke brings her sculptural glassworks to Asheville this September in Terra Fluxus, on view at Mark Bettis Gallery from September 13-27. Latin for “land flow,” the exhibit explores Earth’s subtle, continual motion through glass and mixed media forms inspired by natural textures and patterns. Burke’s sculptures echo coral formations, tangled vines, and cairns — those balanced stone stacks often found along forest trails — by layering and threading glass into organic shapes that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Her work draws attention to overlooked details in the landscape: moss clinging to rock, flowers erupting from vine, and the occasional man-made interruption. Burke holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Policy and Arts Management from Ohio State University and has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Toledo Museum of Art and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. An opening reception will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, from 4-6pm.
