Village Art & Craft Fair.

Summertime in Western North Carolina is filled with opportunities to learn new tricks in crafting, gardening, and where to shop for the latest items handmade by creatives all across the region. This time of year also highlights some of the southern mountains’ oldest heritage events, including the Village Art and Craft Fair (47 this year; Aug. 3, 10am-7pm, Aug. 4, 12-5pm), the Mount Mitchell Crafts Fair (the area’s oldest street fair at 63 years; Aug. 2-3, 9am-5pm), the indoor Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands (celebrating 72 in July; July 18-21; October 17-20), and the North Carolina Apple Festival (turning 73; Aug. 30-Sept. 2).
