Mystery and meaning take shape at Blue Spiral 1

A hand-thrown pot may sit unassumingly on a shelf, but don’t be fooled: It’s secretly stashing away crumpled dollar bills, keys to unknown doors, stray paper clips, and other daily detritus. “From ancient reliquaries and urns to kitchen jars and catch-alls, the vessel has always been more than a container — it is a keeper of what is seen and what is concealed,” Blue Spiral 1 Fine Art + Craft notes in a press release. This July, the Biltmore Avenue venue will open Hold This / Hide That, a group show that explores “what we choose to preserve, display, or keep hidden” through a curated display of clay, glass, and wooden vessels. Also on the docket is a solo show featuring Atlanta-based printer Charles Keiger, an exhibit pairing work by painter Lainard Bush and glassmaker Kenny Pieper, and Outside the Lines, a contemporary showcase focused on “artists whose abstract works embrace a visual language rooted in intuition.”
All shows: July 4-August 27; Opening Reception (all shows): Friday, July 4, 5-7pm
