Parade of Homes returns to showcase mountain living
Buchanan Construction’s Bear Flower Retreat in Arden welcomes visitors during this year’s WNC Parade of Homes.

For 44 years, the Western North Carolina Parade of Homes has been a fall ritual — a chance to wander mountain roads and step inside spaces that reflect the region’s spirit of creativity and craft. This October, that tradition continues as the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains opens doors to more than 30 residences from Asheville to Weaverville to Black Mountain.

The lineup is as varied as the landscape. In Arden, Buchanan Construction’s Bear Flower Retreat reimagines family togetherness with six bedrooms, a teenage lounge, and even a wine cellar. Meanwhile, Mountain Sun Building & Design leans into sustainability with Elk Wallow Gap, where solar panels, a living roof, and 1,600 square feet of outdoor living remind visitors that sustainability and beauty can go hand in hand.

Tour-goers can also expect nods to European elegance with Altamont Construction’s Highland Ridge Farm, a Weaverville residence that’s equal parts French countryside and Blue Ridge charm. And there is innovation, too, like Deltec Homes’ Raven House, a high-performance rondette with a contemporary edge.

“The Parade is really about inspiration,” Jimmy Penland, chair of the Builders Association’s Parade of Homes committee, shares in a press statement. “Whether you’re dreaming about your first home, planning a remodel, or just love seeing what’s possible in the mountains, you’ll find ideas and craftsmanship that spark your imagination, in person or online.”

The 44th Annual Parade of Homes runs October 11-12 and 18-19, from 11am to 5pm daily. Homes can be toured in person and online. For details, visit wncparadeofhomes.com.
