A sense of green thrives in every corner of this glowing master bath in Hendersonville, a project executed start to finish by Lynn Brookshire of Benson & Babb Interiors Inc., a full-service design showroom in Hendersonville. Brookshire calls the inspired, therapeutic space “spectacular but functional.”
A pebble flooring memorably grounds the shower floor, and geometric variations on that mosaic, incorporating hand-tumbled glass, distinguish the stall’s recessed niche and border treatment. The shower wall is brushed-and-chiseled Travertine tile.
Accents are woodsy and fun. An animal-print cushion tops a vintage-look vanity chair and wonderfully complements the Aristokraft cabinetry, introducing a darker, dignified tone in the light-drenched room. The flooring, too, is a sweet surprise — porcelain tile designed to look like weathered wooden planks.
In another inspired touch, Brookshire created a terrarium by filling a hand-wrought plant stand with various preserved mosses and polished river stones. “I wanted to do something a little bit different than the obligatory plant,” she says.
The room’s undoubted centerpiece is the luxury tub, a freestanding oval by Tyrrell & Laing International Inc. (made in the U.S.). An independent floor fixture enhances the gallery-like grandeur of the whole tableau, including an oil painting just behind the head of the tub. The atmosphere suggests a fine spa, with nature supplying the grace notes.
