The WNC Home Expo

A sculptural tin ceiling, a prep island repurposed from a vintage sales counter, countertops hewn from petrified riverbed rock — and that’s just the appetizer. Our featured kitchens in this issue (starting on page 82) show the brightest ideas in area kitchens, from Saluda to Sylva. Reclaimed hardwood is huge; ditto arched doorways and a blue-and-white palette.

Homeowners will find even more inspiration at the upcoming WNC Home Expo, October 14 and 15. A 2-day event hosted by Carolina Home + Garden, the Expo dips into the latest home design, remodeling and outdoor living trends, with an entire section devoted to kitchens and baths.

The show is comprised of dozens of top-shelf local experts and vendors ready to help homeowners looking to build, redecorate or renovate — inside and out. Exhibitor displays will showcase the work of designers, woodworkers, cabinet makers, painters, landscapers, and more.

A strong schedule of workshops, seminars and culinary demos accents the floor full of exhibitors displaying their specialties. The focus isn’t so much DIY as it is DIR — do it right.

WNC Home Expo, October 14 (10am-5pm) and October 15 (10am-4pm) at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center (1301 Fanning Bridge Road). Admission is free. For more information, see wnchomeexpo.com.
